What Are The Filler Materials For Fire-resistant Cables?

Fine mineral wool

Fine mineral wool is a common fire-resistant filler material consisting of fibers formed by melting minerals-such as natural asbestos-at high temperatures. It offers excellent thermal insulation properties, effectively lowering the cable's surface temperature while protecting the cable cores and preventing the spread of fire. During the filling process, care should be taken to minimize the contact area between the material and the cable's outer sheath to avoid damaging the insulation layer.

Rock wool

Rock wool is an inorganic fibrous material produced on specialized lines using high-speed centrifugation or jetting methods after melting natural rock minerals at high temperatures. It possesses excellent thermal insulation properties and does not degrade, rot, or age over long-term use. When used to fill cable conduits, it lowers the line temperature while providing thermal insulation and fire protection, making it a common choice for fire-resistant filling.

Foam filler

Foam filler is a modern fire-resistant material that offers excellent fire-retardant and thermal insulation capabilities. Made from polyurethane foam, this material does not clog cable conduits when used as a filler; it provides effective sealing, thereby protecting the cable cores and isolating them from oxygen.
